Oprah Winfrey facing another controversy: This time, over her Oprah's Book Club pick

Posted By: Wormax 2020 - February 11, 2020

In the same Tuesday CBS This Morning interview where she defended her exit from the Russell Simmons #MeToo documentary, Oprah also unveiled her new Apple TV+ book club selection pick: American Dirt by author Jeanine Cummins. As the Los Angeles Times notes, the book on a Mexican immigrant mother trying to escape to the U.S. with her 8-year-old son after a drug cartel killed several of her family members has been "slammed it as a harmful act of cultural appropriation that perpetuates stereotypes and clichés about the people it depicts while fetishizing their hardships." The controversy erupted in the week before Oprah selected American Dirt for her book club. On CBS This Morning, Oprah dismissed the controversy and revealed plans to travel to the U.S.-Mexico border to film the book club for her Apple TV+ series.

(And actually, it is not about genetics or some hard exercise and absolutely EVERYTHING around "how" they are eating.)

BTW, What I said is "HOW", and not "WHAT"...
